Can vehicles move through terrain 40K?
Models can move up, over and down Area Terrain following the normal rules for movement. A model on or behind Area Terrain uses the normal rules for determining if another model is visible to i, or if it visible to another mode. Area Terrain cannot be chosen as the target of an attack (but units within them can).
Do Vehicles benefit from dense cover 40K?
Dense cover has nothing to do with being in cover (see types of terrain at the start) . The rule applies to Vehicles even if they can’t get cover! For example, Woods get the dense cover rule, so if you shoot at something inside the woods or if the shoot has to go through a forest, you get -1 to hit.

What should I base terrain on?
A terrain base must be rigid, light and thin. The best material satisfying these conditions is foamcore used by professional architects. Thin MDF board is a treat for serious projects and there is also a material particularly pleasant for the touch: plywood.
What does light cover do 40k?
Light cover is the one that most people are going to be familiar with. Shooting at a model that’s getting the benefit of light cover means that model gets +1 to their saving throw against ranged attacks. Light cover does not benefit invulnerable saves.
