Can you put any shock on any bike?

Each manufacturer and frame may use a different size shock and your bike is not guaranteed to function properly without using the correct size. To find out what size shock is correct for your mountain bike, either check the brand’s website for your model or call us at the shop and we will be more than happy to help!

How much psi should I run in my shock?

The exact PSI you end up with depends on how plush/firm you want the rear shock to be, but a good starting point is 1 psi for 1 lbs in weight of the rider (including riding gear).

Are motorcycle shocks universal?

Single-shock rear suspensions are near-universal today. Traditional twin-shock setups are still seen, but exist mainly for reasons of retro style.

What psi is Fox DPX2?

350 psi.
Do not exceed maximum air pressure: FLOAT DPS and DPX2 air shocks have a maximum air pressure of 350 psi. 4.

What pressure should my front forks be?

Set up the fork to a pressure where you have between 25%-30% sag. Say, the amount the fork compresses when you get on the bike in normal riding position, has to be like a fourth of the total travel. If your Recon is 130mm travel, it should sink like 36-38mm with your weight on.

Can I reuse shock mounting hardware?

This also means that if you are replacing your stock Fox Shock (like a DPX2) Marzocchi Bomber CR, you can totally just reuse your old hardware as long as it’s not damaged! Don’t have hardware? No Problem! Just measure the width between the mount point of the frame and the diameter of the bolt!

How does a monoshock work?

The use of a single shock means using a single valve, which exerts pressure equally unlike twin shocks. To add to this, the piston in a monoshock is much wider than the one found on twin-shock absorbers. In effect, monoshocks offer better and more precise damping, which results in better handling and stability.

How do I tune my dpx2?

Turn the 3-position lever to the OPEN mode. 2. Start by setting the shock air pressure (psi) to match your weight in pounds. With the air pump attached to the shock valve, slowly cycle your shock through 25% of its travel 10 times as you reach your desired pressure.

How much travel does the Fox dpx2 have?

Fox will continue to offer 100, 125, 150 & 175mm travel options, but the total length and stack height of each has come down between 30-50mm, essentially squeezing more travel into the same space. The new Transfer also improves user-serviceability, and now features a threaded collar at the top of the outer tube.
