Do you need special trucks for drop through longboards?
What is a drop-through longboard? Rather than being mounted straight to the underneath of the board – which we call a “topmounted” board – the trucks on a drop-through longboard are mounted through the deck. You don’t need specific trucks for a drop-through – it’s the deck that’s special.
Why do longboard trucks have 6 holes?
Longboard trucks often use the New School standard but many have more holes (e.g. 6 or 8) for matching both patterns and for allowing wheelbase adjustments (see next section). Most street decks i.e. traditional skateboards, on the other hand, are drilled using the New School pattern.
Are drop through longboards weaker?
They are very easy to slide considering that the center of gravity is much lower as well as it makes them much more stable. Like stated above, drop through decks are not the strongest because all of your weight is distributed mainly on the 8 bolts holding the trucks to the board.
Are drop through trucks different?
The big difference: Pintail decks are mounted on TOP of the trucks. They are great for cruising and carving and for most ride styles that keep you under 25 mph, while Drop Throughs have the trucks mounted through the deck. They are great for faster speed riding, downhill, and some long distance riding.
Are drop through boards good for cruising?
Drop-through cruiser longboards are designed for cruising comfortably and securely on longer distances and for longer rides. They are well-suited for sustained pushing due to the deck sitting closer to the ground. They are also more stable and comfortable than other types for faster cruising.
Why does my longboard wobble at high speeds?
More videos on YouTube The first thing to know is that speed wobbles are entirely due to the actions of the rider. Your brain tries to keep you going straight when you hit small imperfections in the road and over corrects. You try to correct the over correction just to over correct again.
Can you slide on a drop through longboard?
Drop throughs are versatile shapes — the jack-of-all-trades longboard. They are quite a bit harder to get sideways than a drop down, but the tradeoff is that they have better traction in corners. A drop through will still slide. It just takes more effort to kick out and break traction.
Are drop through trucks better?
As mentioned, drop-throughs are lower riding, which also adds to the stability. The large wheel cutouts most drop-throughs have also gives them good clearance for tight carves to control descent, and for tricks such as switch riding. Drop-throughs make it easier to initiate slides thanks to lower center of gravity.
