Room assignments and preferences are not guaranteed, and priority is given to students that apply early. Due to extremely high demand for on-campus housing, it is strongly recommended that admitted students apply and pay their initial payment as soon as possible.

The residential halls have a laundry room, study areas, common spaces, and community kitchens. IP television service and high-speed Internet connections is provided in each room. Each Residential Hall floor has a theme, with programs and events for residents to enjoy. All Residential Halls are co-ed and non-smoking.

Climate Control Cal Poly switches the system to heat during cooler months and to cooling during warmer months. A controlling mechanism in each individual room turns on the system to deliver heat or cool air, depending on which system is active.

Does Cal Poly have coed bathrooms?
Album — South Mountain Residence Halls by Cal Poly Housing Halls provide double- and triple-occupancy accommodations with community-style bath facilities. Each hall has three stories with two wings on each floor. Rooms are same gender, floors are mixed gender, and bathrooms are separated by gender.
Can you request roommates at Cal Poly?
All students in required and non-required groups who have signed up for housing can add up to three roommates. Roommate groups are optional. You can sign up as an individual, then select into an apartment with other groups or individuals during room selection. Request roommates in the housing application.
