Does silicone show up on ultrasound?

On USG, large conglomerates of extracapsular silicone are seen as hyperechoic or anechoic masses, almost indistinguishable from cysts. More frequently, free silicone appears as an echogenic nodule with well-defined anterior margin and posterior dirty acoustic shadowing, termed as “snowstorm sign” [Figure 25].
