How do you care for a composite bat?

Bat Care & Break-In

  1. Limit the bat to individual use.
  2. Do not use in temperatures below 50 degrees Fahrenheit.
  3. Do not store the bat in extremely hot or cold temperature areas.
  4. Do not use the bat to hit the dirt off of your metal cleats.
  5. Use regulation leather covered baseballs and softballs.
  6. Do not hit waterlogged balls.

Can you clean a composite bat?

Most makers of composite bats insist on using only soap and water for cleaning these bats. Your best bet is to use dish soap that doesn’t contain any bleach. This should do well enough to keep from scratching the surface of the graphite fiber composite material.

Does a composite bat need to be broken in?

As you may know, composite baseball and softball bats require a “break-in” period to reach their optimum in-game performance level. Unlike alloy bats that are ready to use straight out of the wrapper, composite bats need a little warming up.

What temperature is too cold for composite bats?

Composite baseball bats are never recommended for use when playing in temperatures that fall below 60 degrees. This is because the performance problems and possibility of cracking increases.

How long do composite bats last?

A composite bat will last anywhere from 1 to 3 years after it is broken in. For a bat that is used all year round, it may only last 2 years before it needs to be replaced. On the other hand, a composite bat that is used only for a few months or periods of time every year may last even over 3 years.

How do you clean a composite baseball bat?

Only use mild soap and water to clean your bat as they won’t damage the surface coating or graphics on your bat. Do not use solvents, acetone or other heavy-duty cleaners, as they will damage the surface. For most baseball bat manufacturers, mild soap and warm water will suffice to clean your baseball bat.

Can you leave a composite bat in the cold?

What temperature is too cold for a composite bat?

How many hits can a composite bat take?

The lifespan of a composite bat usually involves an increase in performance up to 750 to 1000 hits. After that, its performance may visibly begin to decrease over time. When it comes to an accurate estimate of how long your composite bat will last, there is no exact answer.

What temperature should you not use a composite bat?

Can you use a composite bat in cold weather?

Aluminum and composite bats are strong, but there are several things to avoid during bat use, and they all apply to both. Do not use your bat in weather below 55 to 60 degrees Fahrenheit; the balls are harder due to the temperature and may cause cracking or other damage to your bat. Use an old bat under cold conditions.

Do the basic principles apply to all bats?

Although each manufacturer may provide slightly different information, the basic principles apply to all bats. For further information regarding bat care techniques, please see our Vendor section so you may contact the appropriate manufacturer.

How do I replace the grip on my bat?

Take the grip out of the package. Unroll the entire grip. You will find that one end has a longer, angled edge and the other end has a shorter angled edge. As well, you will notice one side of the grip will have adhesive covered with protective tape. *Do not remove the protective tape from the adhesive side of the bat grip at this time*
