How does an X-ray generator work?

In general, an X-ray generator consists of a metal target (anode), an electron gun (cathode), a vacuum chamber with an X-ray window, and a power supply/controller. X-rays are generated by the electrons accelerated from the cathode and impinging on the target.

What are the components of X-ray generator?

The major components of an X-ray generator are the tube, the high voltage generator, the control console, and the cooling system. As discussed earlier in this material, X-rays are generated by directing a stream of high speed electrons at a target material such as tungsten, which has a high atomic number.

Why is a 3 phase transformer used in X ray?

Three-phase power is a more efficient way to produce x-rays than is single-phase power. Shown are the voltage waveforms for un rectified single-phase power, un rectified three-phase power, and rectified three-phase power.

How does high frequency generator work?

A high frequency X-ray generator includes an anode voltage generator, a cathode voltage generator and a X-ray tube. The anode voltage generator is configured to generate a first high voltage. The cathode voltage generator is configured to generate a second high voltage having a same waveform as the first high voltage.

What is major and minor kVp?

minor kVp selector. fine tunes the selected technique. major kVp selector. provides required kVp and determines quality. x-ray tube.

What type of transformer is used in xray?

A high tension transformer. The purpose of this produce current of a sufficiently high voltage ( from 40 k V upwards ) for the production of X- rays. Where the transformer is not located immediately adjacent to the tube the two parts have to be linked by suitably insulated high-tension cables.

How is a 3-phase generator wired?

The generator coil can be connected in a delta connection or star (Y) connection. A delta (Δ) connection is made by connecting the end of each coil to the start of the other. The three coils connected in this way form the Greek letter delta. Delta connections have three-phase wires and no neutral.

What is the difference between single and 3-phase generator?

Single-phase generators produce and rely upon one AC flow with one up-and-down cycle, while 3-phase produce and cycle three simultaneously.

What is anode in xray tube?

The anode (or anticathode) is the component of the x-ray tube where x-rays are produced. It is a piece of metal, shaped in the form of a bevelled disk with a diameter between 55 and 100 mm, and thickness of 7 mm, connected to the positive side of the electrical circuit.

What is anode stem?

The purpose of the stem is to “conduct” the heat out of the xray tube. This is different compared to the rotating anode which “radiates away” the heat through the glass. The stationary anode tube will conduct the heat out of the tube to the surrounding oil.

What is high voltage generator in radiology?

X-ray units require a high voltage generator to achieve the necessary power required of an x-ray tube. AC power will supply x-ray units with sinusoidal currents, resulting in ‘peaks and troughs’, limiting an x-ray tube to produce x-rays only half of the 1/60th of s second cycle.

How do 3-phase generators work?

An AC three-phase generator is simply three AC single-phase generators. These generators run sequentially with an offset of 120° between them taken two at a time. Thus, the generator produces three waves of AC voltage in one cycle facilitating the consistent supply of constant voltage.

Is there a manual for the X ray high voltage generator zud-p40d?

X-Ray High-Voltage Generator ZUD-P40D/DS ZUD-L41D/DS ZUD-L40D/DS ZUD-V40D/DS ZUD-B40D/DS INSTALLATION MANUAL This manual is for professional service engineers. It bears no relation to the usual operation. Manual No.: M501-E376 Revision: - NO TEXT INDEX INSTALLATION INDEX 1.

How many radiography procedures can be created in one X-ray machine?

Applicable Procedures General radiography, fluoroscopic examinations, direct spot filming, DR radiography, vertical Bucky radiography, horizontal Bucky radiography Radiography programs User can create up to 12 radiography conditions per technique Number of connectable X-ray tube units 1 (2 with 2-tube option) Starter Normal rotation

How do I use the X-ray tube on my Xray machine?

The X-ray tube moves toward the center position while the middle key is pressed. The LED indicator lights when the X-ray tube reaches the center position. (43) [Rolling step control] key ( optional for all systems) Use this key to turn the rolling step.

How do I connect an X-ray tube to a high-voltage generator?

With the high-voltage cable from the X-ray tube unit connected as normal to the high-voltage generator, connect the high-voltage cable from the X-ray tube-voltage measuring instrument to the empty receptacle on the high-voltage generator. Short together screws D1 and D2 on the mA Detector-2002 PCB at the top of the high-voltage generator.
