How is shrimpy related in Downton Abbey?

Hugh henceforth went by the nickname Shrimpie. Hugh and Susan have three children: James – the present Earl of Newtonmore who does not live at Duneagle – Annabelle – who is married – and the youngest, Rose – who resided at Downton Abbey with Robert and his family from September 1921 to 1924.

Why is shrimpy called Downton Abbey?

Hugh is known to his family and close friends by the nickname Shrimpie, which was from a childhood nursery game, where the children pretended to be sea creatures..

How is Lady Rose related to the crawleys?

Lady Rose was introduced in the Christmas special at the end of 2012 as the great-niece of Violet Crawley, played by Maggie Smith, making her a distant cousin of the remaining Crawley girls Lady Edith and Mary.

How is Rose related to Robert Crawley?

Relations and History The Crawleys are related to the Levinson family through Robert’s marriage to Cora. They are also distantly related to the MacClare family, whose patriarch is Hugh MacClare, Marquess of Flintshire. His wife Susan is Violet’s maternal niece and first cousin to Robert and Rosamund.

Is Lord Grantham royalty?

Even though George is Robert’s grandson, he is still heir presumptive rather than heir apparent since he can still hypothetically be displaced by a son of Robert and Cora, or, if Robert were to remarry for some reason, a son of his by his other wife.

Is Thomas Miss O Brien’s son?

This is Cora’s long-term revenge on her husband. She knows that Thomas is the illegitimate son of O’Brien and Lord Grantham – and the rightful heir to the house.

Is Lord Grantham an illegitimate child?

No. While Lord Grantham doesn’t have an illegitimate son (well, not that we know of, maybe a plot for a future film?!) it was thought in Downton Abbey: A New Era that he himself might be the lovechild of Violet and Montmirail — a handsome Frenchman that Violet had a summer of romance with back in 1864.

Are the Granthams a real family?

Are the Crawleys of Downton Abbey a real family? The fictional Crawleys are based on the Earls and Countesses of Carnarvon, who still reside at Highclere Castle, where the series is filmed (though the fictional Downton Abbey is in Yorkshire, rather than Hampshire, where Highclere is).
