Yes, JB4 maps can be changed while driving using the steering wheel controls or JB4 mobile app. A Back End Flash (BEF) is a dme/ecu overwrite and requires MHD or BB and a OBD2 port connecton and several minutes (not done while driving). JB4 maps (0-8) are piggybacked or fed into the dme/ecu.
Is JB4 tune good?
I think the JB4 is a great tune for what it was put out there to accomplish. Before tuners were able to unlock the DME on our cars, it was definitely ahead of its time, and it continues to be relevant today. Adjustments on the fly – Flash tunes cannot change maps without cutting the car off and reflashing.

If you are stock bootmod3 stage 1 is faster than Jb4 Map 1. The car is much much happier on bootmod3. Bootmod3 is also much smoother vs jb4 for daily driving and traffic. If you are staying stock and not going past stage 1 I would at least recommend a charge pipe upgrade.
Do I need JB4 with MHD?
No, you need MHD to load custom tune. You will not need JB4. So you either do JB4 BEF + MHD or you yank JB4 out and just use MHD with their flash options or get a custom tune. Remember you can still get custom BEF to keep JB4 if you want, but personal opinion yank JB4 and go custom flash.
Can dealerships detect JB4?
Actually according to jb4, if it’s installed and uninstalled correctly each time. The dealership would have no way of seeing any tampering. Bmw will detect your JB4 if they dig deep enough.
Can you use bootmod3 with JB4?
With the bm3 flash you can achieve the same as with the bm3 + jb4 combo. If you running a pi-kit with the jb4 controller kit then you will have to run the jb4. But of course you can run the aic6 controller but it is obviously not as enhanced as the jb4 controller.
Can you run bm3 with JB4?
Considering that you have used it before on other cars, it will be exactly the same. the Jb4 controls boost, bm3 everything else and you can still take advantage of all the Jb4 cool features.

If you are not planning on WMI, use either MHD OTS maps OR JB4+BEF. MHD OTS maps are not designed to use in conjunction with JB4. I would suggest go with MHD OTS map and uninstall JB4 because flashing a dedicated map is more refined/reliable than BEF with a piggyback JB4, in my opinion.
