How do you shoot with a speedlight?
The easiest way to use your speedlight is to aim it directly at your subject. The result is a decently lit subject, similar to the type of photo that a built-in pop up flash would produce. Notice how that colors pop more and the mask is more evenly lit compared to the photo shot in ambient light.
What does mm on flash mean?
The speedlight understands this concept and focuses the light into a tighter and tighter pattern, to just illuminate what is coming through the lens. If the focal length of your lens is longer (200 mm) than your speedlight (say, 105mm), then the light will simply not become any more focused than its maximum.
Does shutter speed matter when using flash?
Shutter Speed (Almost) Doesn’t Matter A flash will provide a burst of light that only lasts for a fraction of a second, somewhere in the realm of 1/1000 second or faster for most flashes. If your shutter speed is at 1/250 second or 1/50 second, both exposures will receive the full power of that flash.
Is the Nikon SB-24 a good flash?
A model from the early 1990s (and perhaps earlier), the SB-24 is what you’d expect from a Nikon flash from that era. It was intended to be a professional quality unit, and it does feel nice and solid, even after nearly 20 years. A quick look at the rear panel reveals the strobe’s features.
What is the difference between the SB-24 and SB-700?
A modern SB-700 unit (with a guide number of 29 m / 92 ft being somewhat weaker than the SB-24) costs about the same, so taking inflation into consideration, these new units are definitely cheaper. Current top of the line SB-5000 can be had for approx 550 USD or 550 EUR, so price of the units have not moved much.
Should I buy a Nikon D7000 for photography?
I would recommend the D7000 to anyone serious about photography but not able or willing to spend too much money. Be sure you use a good prime lenses like a Nikkor 35mm f1.8 or the 50mm f1.8. Otherwise you will be wasting your time and/or money. Does your Nikon D7000 still have back focussing problems? D7000 is a huge upgrade in every respect.
How do I select the effective distance on the SB-24?
SWITCH TO SELECT METER AND FEET The display on the SB-24 can show the effective distance in either meter or feet. You find this little switch in the battery compartment.
