What is included in cancer screening?
Screening tests include the following: Physical exam and history: An exam of the body to check general signs of health, including checking for signs of disease, such as lumps or anything else that seems unusual. A history of the patient’s health habits and past illnesses and treatments will also be taken.
Is cancer screening worth it?
We know that cancer screening saves thousands of lives each year. It can detect cancers at an early stage and in some cases, even prevent cancers from developing in the first place. But screening is not perfect. The tests can miss cancers, and have other risks too.
Can you get check ups for cancer?
Most people who have cancer continue to see a hospital doctor or oncologist for a few years after their diagnosis for regular check-ups. These check-ups usually involve tests or examinations to make sure the cancer hasn’t recurred.

What is the best cancer screening test?
Recommended cancer screening tests

How can you test for cancer at home?
At-home cancer test kits contain instructions and collection materials so a person can collect and return a sample for testing. Depending on the screening test, a person may need to collect urine, stool, saliva, a vaginal swab, or a blood sample.

Individuals cannot self-diagnose cancer at home, but they can perform regular self-exams to help detect problems as early as possible. Breast, testicular, and skin self-exams are easy to complete, and they enable people to recognize abnormalities.
How can you test for cervical cancer at home?
Women will be provided an at-home HPV screening kit that includes a tiny brush to swab the vagina to collect cells and a specimen container to mail the swab back to the testing facility. The study, which will be run by the NCI, will assess if the at-home test is comparable to a screening performed in a doctor’s office.
