What is a good slackline length?

What is a typical slackline width?
Most urban slackliners prefer wide 2-inch (5 cm) lines for tricklining on the streets, but some may use narrow (5⁄8 or 1 inch, 1.6 or 2.5 cm) lines for longline purposes or for waterlining. Also see the other sections of slackline styles below.
How thick should tree slackline be?
Trees with thin bark are more vulnerable when it comes to pressure compared to trees with thick bark. To protect the tree it is advisable to use slings of 5 and more cm in width (ideally spread out).
How strong does tree need to be for slackline?
By thumb any tree in diameter of 15 cm and more is strong enough to rig onto. If your tree looks weak or has a really small diameter then you can eventually still rig it if you attach the sling at the bottom of the tree.
Is it OK to leave a slack line up?
We do not recommend leaving your GIBBON slackline set up when not in use, as it will reduce the perfomance of the webbing over time, and can have adverse effects on any fixpoints (e.g. trees).

- If you want to walk longer lines (30m+) or highline, a 25mm wide lines is to be preferred.
- For tricklining and jumping, a width between 30mm and 50mm will feel better than a narrow slackline.

You might think that a wider slackline is easier to walk on. However, this is not true. A wider slackline simply tilts more and therefore offers no advantage to support your balance.
