What is a WaStop?

WaStop is a fully automated solution that works without any human interaction at all. Thanks to the product’s use of differential pressure, neither electricity nor human intervention are necessary for continuous operation. The solution is available as standard for pipe NPS 3″ – NPS 84″/DN75-2000.

What is the purpose of a check valve?

What is a check valve? Check valves are generally installed in pipelines to prevent backflow. A check valve is basically a one-way valve, in which the flow can run freely one way, but if the flow turns the valve will close to protect the piping, other valves, pumps etc.

What is the difference between a check valve and a swing check valve?

A swing check valve uses a flapper that ‘swings’ off the seat to allow forward flow and then swings back onto the seat when the flow is stopped. In contrast, a spring loaded check valve incorporates a spring to assist in closing the valve.

What is inline check valve?

Inline check valves utilize a check mechanism that functions in the fluid line or media pathway of a process piping system. Oftentimes, these check valves are of a compact design allowing for space saving and/or ease of installation into an existing system.

Which is better swing or spring check valve?

A spring loaded check valve will help minimize effects of water hammer, while a swing check valve can exacerbate the issue. Any water hammering effects present in a piping system can potentially be amplified by a swing check valve.

Are there different types of check valves?

Check valves are unidirectional valves that provide unobstructed flow in one direction as long as flow pressure remains constant and protect the piping system against reverse flow. The three main types of check valves we offer are ball, piston, and stop check valves.

Are two check valves better than one?

Using a second check valve just in case the one on the pump fails is never a good idea. If the check on the pump fails, it must be replaced. Having a second check valve will only mask the problem of the first check valve, and cause water hammer and possible contamination in the process.

What does a check valve do?

Single pump system – The check valve controls a flow from a suction tank and blocks it from reversing when the pump stops.

  • Parallel pump system – In a parallel pump system,a check valve prevents the duty pump from pumping into the standby pump.
  • Series pump system – A series of pumps is used when pumping materials in a pipe line over long distances.
  • Do city water meters have check valves?

Mueller Co. offers a full range of meter and check valves – in angle and in-line styles – for water service lines. These valves are also available as an option on Mueller® copper meter yokes, cast iron meter boxes, iron meter yokes, meter boxes and vaults.

  • Where is the environmental vacuum check valve?

check valve or air inlet valve (down stream side) is spring loaded for an open position to the atmosphere and only closes when the supply water is turned on. When the supply pressure drops to or below atmospheric pressure (below 0 gauge pressure), the second check valve opens to the atmosphere and the first check valve closes.
