What is BJT current source?

One of the less glamorous but equally important circuits in audio amplifiers is the current source. It plays two positions on the audio team: 1) bias the differential input stage and 2) provide bias AND a super high gain for the Gain Stage with its astonishingly high output resistance.

How do you create a variable current source?

If you want to make the current source adjustable, you have 2 options. Being the load current is decided by the voltage or the resistance, you add a potentiometer to the voltage source or a potentiometer as the output resistor so that you can vary the current output.

Is BJT current source or voltage source?

A BJT is a current controlled device because its output characteristics are determined by the input current. A FET is voltage controlled device because its output characteristics are determined by the Field which depends on Voltage applied.

Why BJT is current controlled current source?

BJT is a current controlled device because the output characteristics of BJT are determined by the input current. In a p-n junction i.e base-emitter junction in BJT the change in voltage (Vbe) is produced only after the change in base current.

What is a current source in a circuit?

A current source is an electronic circuit that delivers or absorbs an electric current which is independent of the voltage across it.

Is transistor a current source?

The simple use of a transistor enables a far more effective current source to be made. The current source operates because of the fact that the collector current in a transistor circuit is Β times the base current.

Is BJT a voltage controlled device?

A physicist might say that the fundamental action in a BJT is that an electric field across the base-emitter junction decreases the width of the depletion zone. It is this electric field, measured in volts, that controls the movement of charge carriers. Therefore the BJT is voltage controlled.

Is BJT current or voltage controlled?

A current controlled is a source which is controlled or driven by a current source. A voltage contolled is one which is driven by a voltage source. Now, Bjt is a current controlled because. Bjt has a finite input impedance so it has a small finite base current which controls the output current.

What is a current controlled current source?

A current source that depends on a voltage input is generally referred to as a Voltage Controlled Current Source or VCCS. A current source that depends on a current input is generally referred too as a Current Controlled Current Source or CCCS.

How does transistor current source work?

The current source operates because of the fact that the collector current in a transistor circuit is Β times the base current. This is independent of the collector voltage, provided that there is sufficient voltage to drive the current through the load device in the collector.

How do you control current in a circuit?

The current in a circuit is directly proportional to the electric potential difference impressed across the circuit and inversely proportional to the resistance of the circuit. Reducing the current can be done by reducing the voltage (choice A) or by increasing the resistance (choice D). 2.

What is a controlled current source?

How does current flow in BJT?

Charge flow in a BJT is due to diffusion of charge carriers across a junction between two regions of different charge carrier concentration. The regions of a BJT are called emitter, base, and collector. A discrete transistor has three leads for connection to these regions.

What is a simple BJT current source?

Simple BJT Current Source Idea: Keeping a constant current by varying the internal resistance. The simple current sourceis imperfect as the load affects the current. For example, let’s the load has varying ohmic resistance RL. As the source has a constant internal resistance Ri, the total circuit resistance Rtot = Ri + RLwill vary.

What is a BJT transistor?

Bipolar Junction Transistor (BJT) BJT wired as a switch BJT voltage follower – Emitter follower BJT current source Darker LDR means more light from LED BJT circuit BJT Rubber Diode – Adjustable Zener Like Voltage Reference

Why current does not flow through the collector side of BJT?

Without Base current, there will also be no current flow from Collector to Emitter if using NPN BJTs. The Load of a switch circuit is on the collector side of the transistor. Therefor no current will flow through it either.

Why do we need base current in a BJT switch circuit?

BJT switch circuits, need the transistor to conduct freely compared to the load while on. And also, the BJT needs to not conduct at all while off. Without Base current, there will also be no current flow from Collector to Emitter if using NPN BJTs. The Load of a switch circuit is on the collector side of the transistor.
