What is Class 2500 flange?

The Class 2500 Flange is one of the highest pressure rating flanges. For this high alloy materials, duplex and carbon steel materials along with stainless steel materials are used.

What is the pressure rating of flange?

Pressure rating is defined as the maximum allowed pressure that a flange can withstand at increasing temperatures. According to the ANSI/ASME B16. 5 specification, there are seven flange pressure ratings: 150, 300, 400, 600, 900, 1500, and 2500.

What pressure is a 150 flange rated for?

As temperature increases, the pressure rating of the flange decreases. For example, a Class 150 flange is rated to approximately 270 PSIG at ambient conditions, 180 PSIG at approximately 400°F, 150 PSIG at approximately 600°F, and 75 PSIG at approximately 800°F.

How do you calculate flange weight?

How to calculate the weight of pipe flanges?

  1. Pipe flanges are used to connect pipe sections to other pipe sections, inline components, and equipment.
  2. 1.The materials used to construct a pipe flanges directly relate to the weight and the pressure it can handle.
  3. Pipe flanges volume=π/4*A1*A1-B1*B1-D1*C1*C1)*C(mm)

What is pressure rating of Class 3000?

7.2. 8.2 Pressure ratings

Table G1
Temperature ratings
Rated 2000 1735
Working 3000 2605
Pressure (psi) 5000 4340

Why are flanges rated in pounds?

The higher the flange ratings, the heavier the flange, and can withstand higher pressure and temperature. So, when the temperature goes up for a given material, the maximum allowable pressure goes down, and vice versa. See the below image comparison of 6” Class 150 and Class 2500 weldneck flange.

What is the difference between Class 150 and 300 flange?

A Class 300 flange is rated to a higher pressure than a Class 150 flange, because a Class 300 flange is constructed with more metal and therefore can withstand more pressure. However there are a number of factors that can impact the pressure capability of a flange.

What is the difference between RF and FF flange?

Flat face (FF) flanges are similar to the RF flanges, but they do not have the raised area like the RF flange. Instead, the whole surface is flat. That means that the gasket used with the FF flange has full contact with the whole surface where two flanges are mated.

What is a 3000 lb fitting?

The most common pressure classification is 3000 pounds. This is a 90° threaded elbow and you can see it’s a much, much tighter turn, more than the short radius butt weld fitting.

What is the pressure rating of a class 6000 fittings?

11. Socket weld fitting comes in a pressure rating of 3000 pound, 6000 pound, 9000 pound. Loosely, they are related. So, the 3000 pound is roughly schedule 80 (extra heavy) and the 6000 pound is roughly schedule 160.

What is lb flange?

The term “lb”, “class” and “#” are used interchangeably to designate the pressure rating of the flange. The fact is that 150 lb has no relation to 150 psi and so does the 300 or 600 lb does not correlate to 300 or 600 psi pressure rating.

How do you calculate flange overdose?

The outside diameter of flange formula is defined as the sum of four-times the value diameter of driving shaft and two times the thickness of protecting rim and is represented as Do = (4*d)+(2*t1) or Outside Diameter of Flange = (4*Diameter of Driving Shaft)+(2*Thickness of protecting rim for coupling).
