Are Alnico V pickups good?
Alnico V. The strongest of the three; more powerful in tone and response. Its greater output makes it a good choice for bridge pickups, over which there is usually a smaller amount of string vibration. Good for an aggressive, punchy sound.
Are Alnico 2 pickups good?
Great for an over saturated sound, really a great fit if you crank overdrive all the time. I was looking for something a little more refined. I play a lot with a relatively clean sound, just a little hair on it and those hot pickups just sounded fizzy. The Alnico’s are certainly low output and capture this well.

Are expensive guitar pickups worth it?
Not much of a difference at all. Pickups are pretty much the last item in the tone chain and represent maybe 5% or less of your overall tone. If you have a very specific sound you are going for and you have used a similar guitar with XXX pickups through your amp and they captured that sound, buy some for yourself.
Are iron gear pickups good?
You don’t have to look very far to find pickups with very similar specifications at 3 times the price of these pickups. But the bottom line is, IronGear pickups represent incredible value for money and sound utterly amazing! Trust Your Ears!
What is the difference between humbuckers and mini humbuckers?
The mini-humbucker resembles a Gibson PAF humbucker, but is narrower in size and senses a shorter length of string vibration. This produces clearer, brighter tones that are quite unlike typical Gibson sounds. It fits in between single-coils and full-sized humbuckers in the tonal spectrum.
How long do guitar pickups last?
Guitar pickups generally last around half a decade before the sound quality drops. Single coil pickups age slower than humbucker pickups. Active pickups have a higher output compared to passive pickups so tend to deteriorate the fastest. Old pickups usually sound much weaker, quieter and flatter.
Can magnets damage guitar pickups?
Exposure to powerful magnets can negatively impact the pickup’s magnetic field – which is important to ensure proper working. Smaller magnets are generally harmless to the guitar and any distortion created is short-term, but it’s generally a good idea to avoid having magnets near your guitar’s pickups.
