The monologues MAY be performed by children and teens in educational, competition and audition settings without requesting permission. The performer must cite the author AND Drama Notebook in his/her recitation.

Should an actor play a song during a monologue?

Actor should play the song listening for the misinterpreted phrase and actually sing it during the monologue. Do your parents make you listen to their music? Mine do. It’s torture, I tell you.
